Rock Win Two More!

by Mike Hancock

The Oakville Rock added a pair of wins over the weekend with a 27-2 thumping of the Ennismore James Gang and a 14-7 doubling up of the Brooklin Merchants.  The wins improved the Rock’s record to 3-0-0 on the campaign.

Last Friday night, it was all Rock, all the time.  The Rock only led 1-0 as the game passed the 10-minute mark of the opening period, but then the flood gates opened.  When the first period came to a close, Oakville had established a 7-1 lead over the hometown James Gang.

In the second stanza, the Rock did the opposite of slowing down, they actually poured it on with another dozen goals to Ennismore’s single tally.  Jason Knox scored a hat trick in the second period alone, which gave him 5 goals on the night.  The Rock tightened up defensively and didn’t allow a goal in the final period, but decided the scoring wasn’t done, firing home another 8 goals.

On Monday night, the Rock started slow, tied 3-3 after one.  In the second period, the Rock came out on fire, outscoring the Merchants 6-1 in the period.  Oakville got contributions from up and down the lineup again including goals from defenders Adam Jay, Brandon Slade and Bill Hostrawser.

In other news, the Oakville Rock have added defender Callum Jones to the roster who played last season for the Rock.  Also, added to the roster is forward Dylan Watson who was the second overall pick in the 2022 NLL Draft by the Las Vegas Desert Dogs.  Both will make their season debuts this Saturday when the Rock travel to Owen Sound to face the North Stars.
